A Little Perspective
This talk does a really good job of putting the things we're learning about into the perspective of our own lives. It's a little unnerving, so be forewarned!
This is well worth watching, but Rambam is a bit of an alarmist and you should take into account that he is catering to his audience, which are attendees of the annual HOPE (Hackers on Planet Earth) conference. Rambam has been giving his "Privacy is Dead" talk for years. I believe privacy is not dead, but certainly has been redefined and threatened over the last several years, primarily due to the rapid advances in new technologies that encourage and enable the sharing of information, allow for the storage and aggregation of information, make big data analytics possible and facilitate monitoring and surveillance. So...watch Rambam's talk, but keep in mind he focuses solely on the tools and means for invasion of privacy and ignores the tools and means that are available to protect one's privacy.
